	April 2009 - District Battle of the Books Championship  Congratulations to Westview's BOB team - winner of the Consolation Bracket.  We won 4 out of 5 rounds! October 2009 - BOB will be announced at the end of November 2009.

All 5th grade students are invited to join Battle of the Books (BOB), a national program that encourages students to read by offering them exciting, friendly competition based on their knowledge of a group of books. The goal of the program is to encourage interactive reading of excellent children’s fiction and the discussion of these books by teams of four to six students.

Adams 12 teacher librarians have compiled a list of ten award-winning children’s books. Students read the books, discuss them, quiz each other on the contents, and compete in teams to answer questions based on the books in a “quiz show” format. Each member of the winning team will receive an engraved trophy, with 2nd place winners receiving an engraved medal! All participants are invited to an ice cream party at the conclusion of the program.  Last year, Westview’s winning 5th grade team competed against 5th grade teams from 27 other elementary schools in our district.
