Welcome back to another great year filled with literacy and technology here in the library! I am very happy to be returning as the full-time librarian at Westview, teaching information literacy, technology, and fostering a love of reading. Mrs. Saal, our fabulous media technician, will also be here full-time in the library so that students can check out many books!
During the first week of school, students will be learning about taking care of books from the library and the classroom. Students are responsible for their library materials and any loss or damage that occurs, so please make time to talk to them about the importance of proper book care.
Throughout the year, all students will also be learning about digital citizenship and netiquette so they can communicate in a safe and polite manner online. Intermediate students will utilize Google applications, learn about strong passwords, and practice research skills while primary students will learn about keyboarding, parts of the computer and develop mouse skills.
At the end of last school year, the library space was reconfigured to create a more cohesive space and we are excited for our community to experience it! Parents and guardians are very welcome and encouraged to check out books, so please stop by any time! Happy reading!
