Dear Westview Families,

Welcome back from the three-day Memorial Day weekend!  I hope you had a restful and enjoyable time with your family and friends. We have two fun-filled days left of the 2023-2024 school year! Staff members have made plans to make the most of this time together, remembering the memories they've created with students and celebrating all that students have accomplished. From special activities to reflective moments, we are ready to wrap up another successful school year.

Important Upcoming Dates:

Tuesday, May 28 - Scholar medal Certificate Assemblies
Wednesday, May 29 - Students participate in Jump Up and Yearbook Signing
Scholar Game Day for fourth quarter
Thursday, May 30 - Last Day of School for All Students
8:30 - Kindergarten Graduation in the Gym
10:00 - 5th Grade Continuation in the Gym

Jump Up - During our Jump Up activity on Wednesday, students will have the opportunity to meet their next year's grade level teachers and visit their future grade level classrooms.  The students will spend time with their future grade level teachers and learn about the topics they will cover in science, social studies, math, and reading next year. Our goal is that the Jump Up event will help alleviate any fears about the upcoming year and ignite excitement for the adventures that lie ahead.

School Supplies - Here is our school supply list for the 2024-2025 school year.  Click on the link or find it on our Westview website when you are ready to go shopping.  If families need assistance with purchasing supplies they are encouraged to contact our Family Outreach Liaison, Ana Martinez at 720-972-5686 for assistance.

Family-School Survey Results - Thank you to all who participated in our annual Family-School Relationships Survey in February. At Westview we had over 71 survey participants!   As we look at our family survey results, we also have the opportunity to compare it with staff and student data from the same survey to see feedback trends and themes over time to best meet the needs of our community.

As we plan ahead to next year, I want to share with you what we found encouraging from this survey and the areas of growth we discovered:

Areas to Celebrate:

1.    Faculty Growth Mindset
2.    Educating All Students
3.    Teacher Self-Reflection

Areas of Opportunity:

1.      Resources
2.       Professional Learning about Social Emotional Learning
3.       Feedback and Coaching
4.        School Climate

We appreciate you taking the time to provide feedback. These results allow us to continue initiatives you rated high and focus our attention on those areas where we can better serve your child.

Summer Reading Challenge - Your student was sent home today with a bag of books to keep, read, and enjoy! This summer Westview will have a Summer Reading Challenge. We invite you to join the Westview staff to check out library books from the Anythink Library Bookmobile at Danahy park Wednesdays from 1:30pm-2:30pm. There will be different staff members reading aloud each week.  Students are encouraged to read at home and bring your Bingo card provided in the book bag each week to earn a prize! Please see the papers inside your students bag for more information and the schedule. We look forward to reading with you this summer!

I am incredibly proud of the growth our students have shown this school year, thanks to the hard work and dedication of our staff and the hard work and perseverance of the students. As we approach the summer break, continue supporting your students by encouraging them to practice their reading, writing, and math skills. Consistent practice over the summer will help them retain the knowledge they've gained and be better prepared for the upcoming school year.

Thank you for allowing me to work with your students over the past five years. The Westview community is wonderful and will always hold a special place in my heart. It has been a privilege to be a part of this supportive and caring community, and I am grateful for the relationships we have built together. I wish all of you the best and can’t wait to stay connected with Westview as I transition into my new position at the district.

Have a great break!  Remember - At Westview, we are Always - Learning, Growing, and Achieving - Together!

Stephanie Frankenfeld
