Welcome back Wildcats! My name is Mrs. Holmes and I am so excited to be the half-time teacher librarian at Westview. I have a MA in Information and Learning Technologies with a concentration in school library. I joined the Westview staff in 2018 after beginning my teaching career in 2011 in the district.
I’m not your typical librarian. I believe that the library is no longer a tomb of silence but one of energy and vitality. I believe that the library should be a place to dream and to discover. A place to collaborate and share. A place to invent and inspire. I want to teach skills that will help students be mindful digital citizens who can think critically about information and who have a love of reading. I am passionate about working with each and every student, and I can’t wait to see the endless possibilities they create. When I am not at school I find joy in my own yoga practice and teaching, as well as being active outside with my husband and dog!
Over the year, our students will work on developing digital and information literacy skills through their library rotations as well as collaborative lessons in the library, their classroom, and even outside of the classroom! With the power of our new interactive boards students will be more engaged and excited than ever before!
Please stop by the library anytime to say hello and check out a book (parents included)! I look forward to what I know is going to be a great year!
