Hello, First grade families! I am excited to work with your student and our class at home and school during these unique times. Why I have chosen to educate? The answer is…the students. They keep me young and inspired! First grade (and a year of Kdg./1st grade split) is what I have taught at Westview since 1996. Westview is one big FAMILY that cares for one another. My goal has always been to keep each student’s fire lit, so their brains and hearts remain bright. Actually, I have taught every grade over the years, but my passion lies with our youngest students. Kansas State University is where I earned my Bachelor’s degree - GO WILDCATS!!!
The power of the pencil knows no boundaries! Through a variety of student letter writing campaigns, my 1st grade students have acquired a weekly ANYTHINK Bookmobile stop for our Westview community, enhancements and renovations of a neighborhood park, as well as food and clothing collections for local charities. Empowering our future generations to be service-minded will always be a goal of mine.
When I am not teaching school you will find me joyfully supporting and volunteering especially with cancer patients and their families (my hubbie is a cancer survivor). Our two daughters are very busy with all things high school and college. Both are seniors this school year. They keep me well-connected to their academic and social endeavours. My older daughter just got engaged!!! Our family enjoys cooking BBQ – we are a professional cooking team called Over the Fence BBQ. Mickey Mouse and all things Disney are favorites, too. Someday I hope to work for Disney as a Cast Member, I would love to spread the joy that the "Happiest Place on Earth" has given me over the years.
